Danse Theatre Surreality's Persephone Winter/Spring at The Rooted Space

  • The Rooted Space 4432 North Ravenswood Avenue Chicago, IL, 60640 United States (map)

Danse Theatre Surreality's Persephone Winter/Spring is a bilingual dance-poetry duet created and performed by Lauren Hlubny and Kyra Hauck. Inspired by the myth of Persephone, the work moves through winter and spring, grief and renewal, descent and return. With contemporary dance, boxing-inspired movement, and poetry in English and French, the duet creates an intimate world from minimal materials: two performers, one large fabric, one pomegranate, and a room transformed by attention.

At The Rooted Space, doors open at 11:45 AM, Persephone begins at 12:00 PM, and audiences are invited to bring poetry for a poetry open mic.

Pay what you can to support the space. Presented with support from The Rooted Space.

AUDIENCE NOTE: Contains intense physicality and recordings of a bilingual political rally.
